General Intranet/Internet Requirements

Please note that internet sites hardware requirements depends very much on the complexity and expected bandwidth of the application. For a detailed hardware quote please contact support.

Software

  • Windows 2000(Windows 2003)
  • Internet Information Server( IIS) 5 (IIS6)
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) of at least 128 bit from a recognised certificate authority e.g. Thawte, Verisign to ensure data is encrypted end to end.
  • SQL Server 2000 or Above

We would also recommend that for an internet site running IIS5 or IIS5.1, the site exposure (or footprint) be limited by running the Microsoft IIS Lockdown Tool. This is freely available from Microsoft and removes unused services and unnecessary exposure to public interfaces e.g. FTP, NNTP and SMTP.

Minimum(Recommended) Requirements For Workstations

  • 500mhz(1Ghz+) processor
  • 80MB(200MB+) of available drive space for setups

* Web Enabled Applications

Whilst all our applications are password protected, to ensure that data is not intercepted between the application and client, we would suggest that a certificate from a reputable certificate authority and Secure Sockets Layer be used. This encrypts data from the client to the server. To enhance security still further all our applications log session details. For the very tightest of security we would recommend a Virtual Private Network (VPN) link.
